LISTEN: Morgan Wallen Teases New Song “Superman,” A Heartfelt Tribute To His Son
Morgan Wallen is giving fans another glimpse of his upcoming fourth studio album, I’m The Problem. Just weeks after announcing the album’s arrival, the country star shared a new teaser for a song titled "Superman," which he dedicated to his son.
On Instagram, Wallen shared a deeply personal message about his struggle to write a song that truly expressed his feelings for his son.
He explained, “Been trying for a long time to write a song I loved to my son. None of them ever feel good enough because of how perfect I want something like this to be. And not saying this is perfect, but I am very proud of it. Here is a clip, It’s called ‘Superman.’”
In the song, Wallen reflects on his past mistakes, particularly his public arrests and viral mugshots. He imagines a time when his son will encounter these moments in his life and addresses the idea of his son hearing songs that reference past heartbreaks.
The lyrics express this vulnerability:
“One day you’re gonna see my mugshot
From a night when I got a little too drunk
Hear a song about a girl that I lost
From the times when I just wouldn’t grow up”
The chorus further explores Wallen’s struggles with alcohol and his own flaws, but also highlights his dedication to being the best father he can be, despite his imperfections:
“Now and then that bottle’s my Kryptonite
Brings the Man of Steel down to his knees
Don’t always know my wrong from right
Sometimes I’m my own worst enemy
No, I don’t always save the day
But you know, for you, I’ll always try
I do the best I can but Superman
Still just a man sometimes”
While details are still under wraps, it’s likely that “Superman” will appear alongside other tracks like “Lies, Lies Lies,” “Love Somebody,” and “Smile” on Wallen’s upcoming double album, I’m The Problem.
