Sam Hunt Arrested in Tennessee
Country music star Sam Hunt found himself in legal trouble once again after being arrested last week in Henderson County, Tennessee.
The arrest, first reported by TMZ, occurred in an area located roughly halfway between Memphis and Nashville, where Hunt resides with his wife and two children, with one on the way in May.
Why Was Sam Hunt Arrested?
According to police records, the "Locked Up" singer was pulled over on January 20, 2025, after authorities caught him speeding.
In addition to exceeding the speed limit, Hunt was also charged with violating an interlock device requirement.
An interlock device (ILD) is a breathalyzer system installed in vehicles to prevent impaired driving. Typically, these devices are mandated for individuals with prior DUI offenses.
Hunt's past record includes a 2019 DUI arrest in Nashville, when he was found driving in the wrong direction on Ellington Parkway. At that time, his blood alcohol level was .173, more than twice the legal limit.
Hunt’s History with DUI and Interlock Devices
Following his 2019 DUI, Hunt admitted to his mistakes, stating:
“It’s not that I don’t drink at all, but I put myself in a position by being out, seeing friends at a show, leaving my phone in an Uber. We’d Uber’d all night, then went back to a friend’s house, had some pizza. I fell asleep on the couch, woke up groggy. I should’ve been more conscious, but I wasn’t. So I take responsibility.”
Hunt later pleaded guilty to two counts of DUI in Davidson County Circuit Court.
He received a suspended jail sentence of 11 months and 29 days, except for 48 hours served at DUI Education Centers.
Additionally, he was required to complete an alcohol safety course, and his driver’s license was suspended for one year.
He was only permitted to regain driving privileges with the installation of an interlock device in his vehicle.
What Happened This Time?
Police reports indicate that Hunt somehow violated the interlock device regulations while driving.
After being pulled over for speeding, he was taken into custody but later released on $1,500 bond.
A representative for Sam Hunt told TMZ that the charges were dropped after he and his attorney completed the required legal procedures.
What’s Next for Sam Hunt?
Despite this legal hiccup, Hunt has remained low-key in recent years, releasing only a handful of songs and an EP.
His most recent single, “Liberty,” debuted in fall 2024.
